In the debate on the Local Property Tax, Minister Noonan deconstructed the name of the tax. While I accept that it is a tax on property, I’m not so sure about the local bit. I used my own situation to illustrate this. I won’t have to pay the local property tax, even though I use the facilities in my area. Why? Because I rent my house. There are many other elements of this bill that are problematic – and this speech from the last debate on the bill illustrates some of them.
