Drainage Works to begin soon on Kilmacanogue Blackspot

I am delighted that Wicklow Councty Council have agreed with me that drainage works for the accident black spot at Old Long Hill in Kilmacanogue are needed as temperatures drop and ice warnings return to Co. Wicklow.

Following my representations, the council is taking decisive action to improve the drainage at the lowest stretch of Old Long Hill. There have been numerous accidents – including one fatality – at the bottom of the hill and a number of constituents have contacted me about the lethal combination of surface water and a sharp turn. The planned works, which will include an extension of the drainage ditches by approximately 250m, are due to start in the coming weeks.
